3 dead in fatal Clark County crash have been identified

Three people are dead following a semi-trailer crash on Ohio 4 at Prairie Road in Moorefield Twp.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office identified the people killed as Tamara Jones, 58, of Germantown, Md.; Carolyn Honore, 80, of Urbana and Cheryl Ceasar, 79, of Columbus, who all died at the scene.

Crews responded to reports of a fatal crash around 1:48 p.m., according to Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Jones was in a 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC traveling northbound on Prairie Road with her two passengers Honore and Ceasar, when she failed to yield to a stop sign and was hit by a 2007 International L9227 that was coming northeast on Ohio 4.

The semi overturned and struck a 2022 Jeep Wrangler that was southwest on Ohio 4.

The International and the Mercedes-Benz continued off the north side of the roadway and the Mercedez-Benz overturned and struck a fence.

The driver of the semi-truck was transported by Moorefield Twp. EMS to Mercy Health - Springfield Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.

The driver of the Jeep Wrangler was also transported by Moorefield Twp. with minor injuries to Kettering Health-Springfield.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Ohio Department of Transportation, Clark County Sheriff’s Office, Moorefield Twp. Fire Department, Springfield Fire Department, Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, Maine’s Towing and Recovery, Dan’s Towing and Recovery and the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

The crash remains under investigation.
